To stage a major First Nation multi-sport, cultural and recreational event providing an opportunity for youth participants from all approved First Nations within the Saskatchewan First Nation Games Program which join in a provincial competition. It focuses on the growth and development of each sport, showcases First Nation Cultural heritage and provides an opportunity for the youth to have an active and healthy lifestyle.


The goals of the Saskatchewan First Nation Games shall be

  • To increase First Nation participation in sport, culture, recreational events and youth activities
  • To provide a competitive sport event that assists in the maximum development of athletes, coaches and officials throughout the province and to promote participation in main stream sports
  • To encourage First Nation communities, zones, Tribal/Grand/Agency Councils and provincial sport governing bodies to cooperate and coordinate their efforts in developing First Nations in sport, culture, recreation and youth opportunities
  • To provide and increase infrastructure within the community to allow for the development of sport, culture, recreation and youth facilities
  • To increase capacity within the community
  • To strengthen mutual harmony among all participants and encourage provincial spirit and pride with the promotion of a healthy alternative lifestyle
  • To provide the host community and the province the opportunity to promote tourism
