“In the name of all officials, I pledge that we will take part in these Saskatchewan First Nation games in the true spirit of sportsmanship, understanding and interpreting the rules with complete impartiality for the glory of sport and the honor of fair play”

Code of Conduct

The Saskatchewan First Nation Winter Games CODE OF CONDUCT was developed to provide full understanding of quality standards required in order to promote fair play, healthy lifestyles, and attitudes and behavior of ALL participants.

This CODE is intended for ALL athletes, coaches, managers, chaperones, parents, Tribal Councils, First Nations and Host Communities.  It will consist of the following:

  • Give thanks to the Creator each morning upon rising and each evening before sleeping;
  • Be truthful at all times;
  • Always treat your guests with honor and consideration. Give your best food and comforts to your guests;
  • The hurt of one is the hurt of all. The honor of one is the honor of all;
  • Listen to and follow the guidance given to your heart. Expect guidance to come in many forms: prayer, dreams, solitude, and other words and actions of Elders and Friends;
  • Respect the Rules and Regulations established by the Saskatchewan First Nations Sport, Culture, Youth and Recreation Board;
  • Respect the Rules and Regulations established by the Host Community;
  • Conduct themselves at all times with honor and dignity;
  • Show that it is a privilege to represent their First Nations;
  • Carry out all roles and responsibilities to the best of their abilities;
  • Be fair at all times no matter what the cost;
  • Believe in honesty and integrity of opponents and officials;
  • Accept peacefully without questioning the decision of the official
  • Promote good sportsmanship and fair play;
  • Ensure athletes have a rewarding and enjoyable experience.
